The government needs to be prepared for whatever may come after this election. Trump is a very sick, unstable man and I wouldn't put anything past him especially since he has refused to agree to a peaceful transference of power. Biden will likely win the popular vote and the electoral college and the government/new Biden administration needs to prepare for what I feel are the likely two scenarios: He refuses to leave (which in that case we need to have the National Guard at the ready to remove him and his family) and also he may descend into far right wing media of his own which he will use to try to incite his base to commit violence and destabilize our prized institutions to undermine the new administration. Best case scenario he becomes too narcissistically injured from a loss to a man he views as weak to remain in the country and simply leaves.

Many people can see Donald Trump for who he is but there is a good 38-40% of the country that view him as their messiah that will do what he tells them to do and believe what he tells them to believe. A lot of his desperation is because he knows that the minute he steps out of the White House he will be served with indictment papers for decades of criminal behavior starting with white collar crimes he committed as a "business man." The statute of limitations has passed on some of those but not all. I never thought it would come to this, not in America, not in the 21st century. Peaceful presidential transitions are what we pride ourselves on regardless party or ideology wether its Reagan or Obama we always believed we could count on that. But then Trump came along. Part of me feels empathy for him as I believe that he is a very mentally-ill man who has lived his life with no self-awareness but my heart breaks when I think of the all of the pain he and his enablers have caused innocent people and it reminds me that he needs to be held accountable in order for our democracy to function as it should. I just hope that we can vote him out and begin to heal our country from the division and damage that he has inflicted on us.
